3 Ways to Buck Fashion Conventions

We are of the mind, that typical fashion no-nos are opportunities to express your taste and style. To match or not to match is no longer the question— and YES you can wear it at your age. Here are three style rules we think you should tell to bugger off.

1. RULE Don't wear black with navy. Also, its seasonal companion: black and navy don't work in the summer. REBEL These ‘fits say poppycock, featuring navy & black in different combinations, proudly. Elegantly. Gallego Desportes: Lucia Top, Angele Wool Crepe Pant, Yuki Dress / Allude: Round Neck Sweater, Ribbed Cashmere Skirt / Odeeh: Quilted Denim Skirt + Black Flats, Detail on Quilted Denim Jacket

2. RULE Leggings and sweatpants are not pants. REBEL Well, we all survived 2020 and now know that there are plenty of ways to style leggings and sweatpants. The relaxed, tapered Galpin Sweatpant by Rachel Comey features a drawcord waist, faux fly detail, and contrast stitching. Paired here with the matching Fond Sweatshirt, and Kempton & Co’s rugged-meets-racy Metallic Camo Large Canvas Crossbody Bag
3. RULE Don’t mix patterns! REBEL Sure, this one is intimidating, but give it a try and have fun with it. Tweed & Checks, Dots & Stripes. The Mila Pants by Gallego Desportes in buffalo check is styled here with their Thea Jacket in multi-tweed. Also by Gallego are their dotted wool Stella Pants paired with the Noella Shirt in blue stripes

BONUS! One more for the road… Accessories Edition: RULE Don’t mix gold and silver jewelry. REBEL Once seen as the only version of the truth, we say do mix! This also applies to hardware on your bag or belt.
